Transitional Planning for Students with Disabilities

Transitional planning is intended to provide students with disabilities the supports and services they need to reach their dreams. Federal law guarantees every student with a disability in moving from the world of school to the world of work. Because transition is so critical to a student’s future, students who know their rights can save years of wasted time.

Transition: The passage from youth to adulthood handbook is designed to give the student with a disability a basic understanding of their rights and the obligations of the special education system under the law. For questions about this handbook, please contact the Advocacy Center Employment Team at 1-800-350-4566. It is our mission to ensure that Floridians with disabilities have the free and appropriate public education that is their right.
