Wednesday, July 14, 2010

The Advocacy Center is a 2010 partner of the Lighting the Way to Guardianship and Other Decision-making Alternatives trainings. The trainings are being held in Miami and Orlando, and each training will be presented twice.

The first training in each location is for judges and attorneys. The Miami training will be held on July 30, and the Orlando training is held on August 13. The registration fee to attend is $165 which includes lunch. However, the fee will be waived (except for a $30 administrative fee) if you complete the Florida Bar’s Low Fee Panel application, volunteer with the Center for Guardian Advocacy, provide pro bono guardianship legal services, or are employed by a government entity, Legal Aid Services, or are a law school student. For judges, the registration and the $30 administrative fee will be waived. This training also provides CEU and CLE credits.

The second training is geared towards self-advocates and family members. The training is on July 31 in Miami and on August 14 in Orlando. You should be interested in attending this training if you are:

  • A person with a disability,
