Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Technical Assistance Information

Florida law regarding parking and accessible restrooms exceeds the federal minimum standards and you should seek technical assistance from the Florida Department of Community Affairs, Office of Codes and Standards at (850) 487-1824. Also, for information on ADA training and other ADA technical advice, we suggest contact with the Governor's ADA Working Group at (850) 487-3423. For technical assistance on ADA Title II or Title III compliance, you should contact the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) at 800-514-0301. DOJ has technical advisors, including architects on staff who can provide free consultation and advice on ADA standards for accessible design upon request. For your easy reference, DOJ has an electronic bulletin board at 202-514-6193. They also have an Internet site, which should prove to be very helpful at: www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm.
